First Chance Presentation Day
The above photos were taken at a 2010 family day with First Chance Inc. where we presented this charity with a considerable donation. This charity supports children and young adults who have special needs and we are proud to have been able to support them over the past 3 years.
Kurri Kurri
Kurri Kurri nostalgia festival was held in March 2010 and as usual we had a good number of our members attend the Sunday Show and Shine. The weather this year was fine but the number of cars seemed to be down on previous years. The bands played, the dancers danced and there were plenty of cars and stalls to see. As it warmed everyone headed for the shade of the trees sitting about and talking. Another good day at Kurri was had by all.
Steamfest
Maitland Street Rodders once again ran the Steamfest Show & Shine in April 2010. This year the weather was fine and it drew over 600 vehicles out of their sheds. When you consider that the Show and Shine is not well promoted it is a great response from the community to get this many cars in the Park, which ended up being full. This year we had Jumping Jukebox playing their music and as usual there were a lot of trophies to be won. We still need to attract more food and drink vendors to the Park and promote the presentation time a little more but other than that it was a great success and thanks to all those members who helped out on the day. The $5 entry fee went to our local charity First Chance and they were thrilled with the amount we raised.
East Maitland
Autobarn East Maitland held their inaugural Show and Shine at the end of August 2010. They had over 200 vehicles and the day was a great success. Due to a clash of dates with Forster not as many from our club could attend but those who did enjoyed themselves and said that Robbo did a great job with the Auction and that the Knights players signed everything put in front of them. On top of this Chris and Dan won trophies for their Rods and Warren won best ute while Claude's wife won two trophies for her Torana and of cause she thanks Claude for the build.
Mid Winter Wander
Mid Winter Wander from Glendale to the Hunter Valley Gardens was on again in June 2010. It was another very popular run and a great day was had by all those that attended.
Raymond Terrace
Raymond Terrace Show & Shine was held on a fine day in September 2010. They blocked the main street of the Town and had over 100 entrants including 5 rods from our club. There were motor boat races on the river and the food court was open in the shopping centre along with other outlets where you could obtain lunch. Dan and Paul both won trophies and everyone had a good day.
Morisset Megga Giggle
Morisset Megga Giggle held in August 2010 was a small affair with under 100 vehicles. We had 4 rods from our club attend the event and Paul won a trophy. It poured with rain later in the day and that cleared a lot of the entrants. But as always a run to the Megga Markets is a good day out as you can have a look around the markets, the cars, buy lunch in the food court and have a chat with other Rodders. What more do you need.
Thornton
Thornton Stratco event held in August 2010 was on for the second year. It had 2 rods and 3 of our members attended the event. It was on the same day as Morisset Megga Giggle which left our club members split for the day but those who attended received a $20 voucher and had a good day out.
Tanilba Bay
Tilligerry Motorfest was on in May 2010 and 4 of our members attended. While there was only about 6 rods there were plenty of other vehicles. The stalls were good and the food and wine were some of the best we have ever seen at a Show and Shine. They had the Rattlesnakes playing music and plenty of seats under cover. It was a very good day.
The Entrance
California Cruisin Inc. were to hold their 2nd Chromfest in October 2010, however the rain came and it was postponed until December 2010. The weather was hot but good over the weekend and the event was a great success. Nine of our members went to the Show and Shine on the Sunday and advised that the crowds were large and everyone was enjoying themselves. They had a band and dance floor operating while a DJ played music when the band was resting. Well over 300 cars attended and there were a lot of different makes and models to look over. Everyone who attended had a great day and will be back next year.
Broke
Broke Fair was held in September 2010 with 6 of our members and their families attending. The weather was warm and there were a great variety of vehicles to inspect and talk about. As usual they had a lot of market stalls and food stalls and we all ended up sitting in the sun and talking. On the way home Ron got a nasty chip in the windscreen of the Chev and the windscreen will now need to be replaced. It was another good Broke Fair enjoyed by all those who attended.
