Manning Valley Cruzers Rod and Custom Car Club hosted their 2019 Mountains to the Sea Rod Run at Smugglers Cove Caravan Park in Forster. The early arrivals to the park had to go through an ember attack from a bush fire which headed for the park after a wind shift on the Thursday. It was desperate times for a while and most of the caravans had holes in their awnings before the helicopter managed to get the flames under control. The smoke was very thick and it was necessary to wear a mask, your eyes were sore and John a member of our club had respiratory problems which in the end kept him confined to his van for the whole weekend. The rod run itself was very good with the usual format, drinks Friday night, show and shine in Taree Saturday morning, party time Saturday night and barefoot bowls on Sunday. They kept us fed and entertained the whole time and we will be back again next year.
